Email & Notifications

WPSEC keeps you informed about security events through configurable email notifications and weekly reports.

Notification Settings

Navigate to WPSEC → Settings → Notifications to configure alerts:

  • Recipient email — Where notifications are sent (defaults to admin email).
  • Event types — Choose which events trigger notifications.
  • Severity threshold — Only receive alerts above a certain severity level.

Event Types

You can enable notifications for:

  • Blocked attacks — When a significant attack is blocked.
  • Login failures — Multiple failed login attempts from the same source.
  • New hardening findings — When a scan discovers new security issues.
  • IP lockouts — When an IP address is automatically blocked.
  • Configuration changes — When security settings are modified.

Weekly Security Report

WPSEC sends a weekly summary email with:

  • Total blocked requests for the week
  • Top attack types and sources
  • Security score trend
  • Outstanding hardening recommendations
  • Quick action links to resolve issues

Reducing Alert Noise

To avoid notification fatigue:

  1. Set the severity threshold to High to only receive critical alerts.
  2. Use the weekly report for routine monitoring.
  3. Whitelist trusted IPs to prevent false positive alerts.

Tip: The weekly report is a great way to stay informed without being overwhelmed. Enable it even if you disable other notifications.
